The BFI, also known as the British Film Institute, is a charity governed by a Royal Charter. The charity was founded back in 1933, and actively seeks to encourage the development of the arts of film, television and moving image, throughout the UK. They promote access to a wide range of British and world cinema - and care for collections reflecting the moving image history of the UK. The BFI is managed day-to-day, by Amanda Nevill.
