Clydesdale Bank is a Scottish commercial bank, founded in Glasgow in 1838, later expanding across Scotland and being the first Scottish financial institution to open banks in England. Clydesdale Bank were acquired by Midland Bank in 1919, later merging with the North Scotland Bank in 1926. Clydesdale Bank is now a subsidiary of NAB (National Australia Bank) Group, being the third largest clearing bank in England and formed a joint venture with Yorkshire Bank, continuing to use its own brand.
