Currys is a UK based electrical retailer, founded by Henry Curry in 1884 in Leicester, England.
Curry started out by building and repairing bicycles in a shed, later opening a small stop on Belgrave Gate in Leicester. in
Currys then expanded and given financial stability by forming a joint venture with Henry Curry's sons, re-branded the company as H. Curry & Sons, eventually floated on the London Stock Exchange in the late 1920s. Currys ceased bicycle production in the 1930s to concentrate on electrical appliances and other goods such as toys, gramophones and radios.
Currys is now owned by the Dixons Retail Group, operating over three hundred superstores and seventy three high street retail outlets in the United Kingdom. Currys now stock a wide range of consumer electronics such as domestic appliances, computers, peripherals, mobile phones and gaming consoles.
