The GCA (Garden Centre Association) was established in 1960 when they began to develop the idea of garden centres, meaning customers were able to purchase plants, seeds and gardening equipment from retail centres, rather than by mail order which had been the norm before then. Since the 1960s, the garden centre idea began to spread, being more common as the years went on. The GCA today represents over two hundred garden centres throughout the UK, being known as the most progressive gardening association.
GCA Garden Centres now offer an all-round retail experience, with many centres having on-site restaurants, cafes, gift shops, homewares and even clothing in some locations.
