KCom, previously known under Kingston Communications was founded in the 1900s when Hull City Council were accepted and granted a licence to open its first telephone exchange at the Trippett Street Baths under the Telegraph Act 1899, giving them the right to operate a municipal telephone system in the Hull region.
It now offers a wide range of communication services throughout Hull to small to mid-sized firms as well as consumers.
Despite only serving a small region, KCom is still regulated by Ofcom and is still under the same European Union obligations as the major providers.
