Located in Yeadon, the airport was initially opened in October 1931. At the time of its opening, the airport was called Leeds and Bradford Municipal Aerodrome. The aerodrome was expanded in 1935, after which it began operating scheduled flights. The services started running from London to Newcastle and then extended to Edinburgh. It also now serves cities of Leeds and Bradford and the Yorkshire region. Now owned by Bridgepoint Capital, the airport is the 16th busiest airport in the United Kingdom.
